PLAYER CODE OF CONDUCT
Players are expected to consistently work on their own to raise the levels of their physical condition and skill. All players will sign a code of conduct form as part of their membership with the team. The following standards must be observed for one to continue as an active member of CJL; violation of these standards can be grounds for suspension or dismissal from the organization.
1. Alcohol and drugs are prohibited at all times.
2. Smoking is prohibited.
3. Excellence in academic performance is required. All players must meet the academic requirements of their school system. No Pass/No Play policy.
4. As a representative of CJL, no actions that will hinder the player's performance, game, or scholastics will be tolerated. The player's actions and behavior should always be such as to reflect positively on the player and their team.
5. Players must be on time for all team commitments. Violations will result in loss of playing time.
6. Player/parents must inform their team coach and parent representative when they are going to be late or absent from a practice or tournament.
7. All players are required to pursue all physical conditioning activities and drills unless excused by a doctor or the coach.
8. Players must report all physical injuries or illness to their head coach immediately.
9. Players prohibited from supervised practice are expected to actively pursue physical conditioning and skill improvement on their own.
10. Players are expected to help set up and break down equipment at all practices and competitions.
11. Each player will keep their coach informed of their presence at tournaments.
12. Each player is expected to treat all other players, teammates, coaches, referees, and fans with courtesy and respect.
13. Under no circumstances should players criticize their teammates. This includes through any social media.
14. Players are expected to hustle any time they are on a field or in the dugout.
15. Poor sportsmanship or selfish behavior (crying, throwing bats/helmets, etc.) will not be tolerated.
PARENT CODE OF CONDUCT
1. I WILL NOT COACH MY CHILD FROM THE STANDS. The coach and player on the field may have specific signs, or prearranged plays. Do not interfere with any instruction from any coach.
2. Abusive or foul language is not permitted.
3. I will emphasize skill development with my daughter and agree to practice softball on a regular basis outside of practice.
4. Conduct of any guests of parents (including siblings) is the responsibility of the parent/guardian whose child will participate on the team.
5. This is an elite club program. I will do my part to have my player attend all practices,
tournaments/ scrimmages, and fundraisers at the designated time.
6. Reinforce and remind your daughter to honor the player’s code of conduct she is bound to uphold.
7. I will make sure my daughter remains in the dugout and/or on the bench when she is not in the game, and to cheer her teammates.
8. I will remember that children participate in sports to have fun and that the game is for
youths, not adults.
9. I will inform the coaches of any ailment, injury or physical disability that may affect the
safety of the child or the safety of others.
10. I will not openly complain about or, bring up, team issues or my displeasure about other players in front of my daughter, other players or team parents.
11. I will respect the officials and their authority during the games and will never question, discuss, or confront the coaching staff after the game. I will take the time to speak with the coaches at an agreed time or place. (24 hour rule.)
12. I will teach my child to play by the rules and to understand the concept of what it means to be a team player.
13. I will demand that my child treat other players and coaches, officials, and spectators with respect regardless of race, creed, color, ability, or difference of opinion.
14. I will learn the rules and policies of the team, and of the game we play.
15. I will not yell at, criticize, or ridicule my child or any participant for making a mistake or losing a competition.
16. I will reinforce to my child not to ask the coaches during a game, scrimmage, or practice about playing time, batting order placement, starting or substitute status. Should I have any questions concerning specific playing time, positions(s), and/or concerns regarding interest in specific areas of the game, I will discuss this matter with the coaches directly at the appropriate time and place (outside of team events).
